Willard Gillis is a native of Brantford, Ont. that is a regular face at Flamboro Downs. Having won his spot in the Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship a few weeks ago, Gillis has been able to formulate his plan of attack for the $25,000 final being held at Rideau Carleton Raceway on November 8.

Although Gillis has been a race fan for over 40 years, this will be his first trip to Rideau Carleton. He told Trot Insider that he is excited to enjoy his weekend in Ottawa. Should he be so lucky as to win the grand prize, he’d just “spend it” -- on what, only time will tell.

If you were looking for the insider scoop on Gillis, here it is:

  • Favourite Racetrack – Mohawk Racetrack
  • Favourite Driver – Randy Waples

With the TCNHC just over a week to go players are gearing up for the $25,000 final and will be sharpening their pencils in anticipation of the competition that will be coming from across the country to compete.
