Hailing from Peterborough, Ont., Bob Burley is looking to cash the biggest ticket of his life at Rideau Carleton

Raceway in less than one month’s time.

Burley is a contender in the upcoming Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship and will be vying for the top prize of $25,000 (estimated) against players from across the country.

Players have earned their spots in the championship final by winning local qualifiers. Burley will be representing Kawartha Downs.

Tournament officials were able to get the inside line on Burly, and here’s just some of what was learned:

  • Favourite Racetrack – Woodbine Racetrack
  • Favourite Driver – Gord Brown
  • Favorite Food – Mac & Cheese
  • Favorite Celebrity – Charlize Theron
  • Favorite Horse of All Time – Admirals Express

Burley will be making his first ever trip to Rideau Carleton on November 8 and hopes it is a memorable one. When asked what he’d like to do if he were to win the rich championship prize, he said he’d love to take his wife on the trip of a lifetime for their 40th wedding anniversary.
