Brad Forward, Gene Piroski and Kevin Wallis have all filed appeals with the Ontario Racing Commission on allegations that certain licensees racing at Windsor Raceway were conspiring to affect the outcome of horse races
.
"I can confirm that all three men who were suspended -- Gene Piroski, Brad Forward and Kevin Wallis -- filed appeals just before the 15-day deadline (to do so under ORC regulations) was up," ORC executive director John Blakney told the Windsor Star's Bob Duff. Blakney went on to say that dates for the hearings have yet to be determined.
Contacted Friday by the Star, Wallis would not speak on the record until the appeal process had been heard. Forward and Piroski did not return the Star's calls seeking comment.
On September 3, Forward received a five-year suspension and a fine of $5,000. Piroski was handed a 10-year ban and a fine of $100,000, while Wallis was issued a 12-year suspension and $100,000 fine.
Two weeks ago, the Star reported that criminal charges were "imminent" in Michigan in relation to the probe. No criminal charges are expected in Ontario.
