Ten of the sport’s top three-year-old trotting colts and geldings went postward Saturday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park in the $605,000 Canadian Trotting Classic final, and race favourite Green Manalishi S continued his dominance on Canadian soil.
The Marcus Melander trainee dug in late to triumph in his rich assignment while a host of other major events went postward on the stakes-filled card.
The $376,000 Elegantimage, the $405,000 Peaceful Way, the $370,000 William Wellwood Memorial will also go postward on the stakes-filled card in addition to eliminations for this year’s Metro Pace and the Shes A Great Lady.

Well, at least we'll get to watch all 3 horses square off against each other at least a couple more times next month, first in The KY Futurity, then again 3 weeks later in The Breeders Crown.

I'm certainly not speaking for the connections, but if those three horses -- all sharing common ownership -- were to race against each other in the Canadian Trotting Classic, they would decrease the amount of available purse money possible for each horse to earn. Second and third in the CTC -- the best possible outcome for two of those horses -- isn't as lucrative as first in the NYSS and the KYSS.

I would love to know what Greenshoe's and Gimpanzee's connections rationales were for entering their horses in sire stakes events this weekend rather than the Canadian Trotting Classic. The CTC is the 2nd most important race in North America for 3yo trotting colts and geldings, behind only The Hambletonian.
