When Dip Me Hanover first stepped onto Canadian soil last week she was winless in six attempts, but she’s clearly taken her game to a whole new level since shifting to the Great White North for trainer Linda Toscano.
After capturing last week’s Peaceful Way elimination in maiden-breaking fashion, Dip Me Hanover returned to victory lane – this time in the $405,000 final of the Peaceful Way at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Hello Tomorrow worked her way to the early lead from Post 9, and she was at the quarter marker in :28.2. She continued to lead the field through middle fractions of :57.4 and 1:26.2. Dip Me Hanover, who sat third through the opening half, made a first-over bid around the final turn and quickly took it to Hello Tomorrow.
Those two fillies battled all the way down the lane, with Dip Me Hanover ultimately using a :28.3 closing quarter to prevail by a length over Hello Tomorrow in 1:55.2. P L Notsonice, who was outside for most of the mile, was a solid third.
“She was a little high strung, so we spent a lot of time kind of getting her quiet and taking her back,” said Toscano. “She’s been just waiting for a good post and it came along last week and David (Miller) took it from there.”
Sent off as the 7-5 favourite, the daughter of Donato Hanover-Dancing For Money improved her 2019 record to 2-1-1 from eight starts for the partnership of the Camelot Stable Inc, Dreamville Stable and Randi Farms LLC. Purchased for $52,000 from last year’s Harrisburg Yearling Sale, Dip Me Hanover has now banked $237,015.
