Former Standardbred groom Jason ‘Jay’ Waples passed away on Monday, February 5 at the age of 35.
Beloved husband of Jenny. Loving ‘Dada’ of Jack and Abby. Dear son of Gordon and Denise Waples, and son-in-law of John and Jo-Dee VanLooy. Cherished brother of Amanda Waples (Tyrone ‘T’ Hammond) and brother-in-law of Jason VanLooy and Jamie (Ryan) Peltier. Loving grandson of Keith and Eileen Waples, and Steve ‘Sonny’ and the late Jean Haddon. Jay will be fondly remembered and missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins and his closest friends Jeff MacLeod and Andrew Milligan who loved him like a brother.
Jay was a loving father, husband, son and brother. His devotion to those around him was as deep as his love for nature. His passion for hunting and fishing was so strong he could have lived under the open skies, enjoying the excitement of every new adventure out in the wild. He always found the time and went out of his way to help family, friends and neighbours. He will be missed by so many for his quick wit and all around infectious personality. Gone too soon but never forgotten, always in our hearts.
Cremation and a private family service has taken place. A Celebration of Jay’s Life will be held on a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a trust account for Jack and Abby has been set up with BMO Bank; Transit #0301; Account # 3976014. To make a donation please contact your local BMO branch, or give trust information to your regular financial institution. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Rod Abrams Funeral Home.
