With this year's Little Brown Jug day fast approaching, Robert Smith has assembled another Picture Parade, this one themed. It contains a collection of old photographs all in some way related to past Jug events. This year's Little Brown Jug, scheduled for Thursday, September 19, is the 74th in this famous race's now long history that dates back to the inaugural held at Delaware Ohio in 1946.
If you care to participate, just state the picture number and with it your answer to the question included with the picture. Good Luck!
- The camera caught a good shot of this U.S. driver very early in his career. In later years he was fortunate enough to add his name to the long list of drivers to win a Jug. Can you identify him?
- This well-circulated picture was taken immediately following a Jug victory. Can you name the driver and maybe the horse?
- These two gents may have been sitting on the fence in this picture but they each also spent a lot of time sitting on a sulky seat in the winner's enclosure on Jug day. Can you name them both?
- No account of Little Brown Jug history could exclude the driver of #6 in this photo as he heads down victory lane. Can you name him correctly?
- No Jug day was ever complete until someone "sipped" from the hallowed Jug. Who was the gentleman shown above? If you recognize him you will probably be able to name that year's winner too!
- When this once well known gentleman entered the LBJ winner's circle shortly after the above two photos were taken he had just accomplished something that no one before him had done. Can you put a name on him and if you can, state what his accomplishment was?
- Can you put a name on the horse and driver above as they finish off Jug Day with a win en route to a fabulous season.
- This horse had quite a year including a Jug victory and a lot more. If the picture quality was any better it would be too easy. Can you put a name on the horse and driver?
- These two gentlemen had a lot to do with the Jug for a very long time and they are shown chatting in the Delaware paddock during Jug day many years ago. Can you name them both?
- Let's end today's Quiz with an easy one. Can you quickly identify these two chaps who made quite a bit of history on a special Jug Day many years ago.
