On Monday (Aug. 21), Red Mile hosted the $80,000 third leg of the Kentucky Sire Stakes for freshman pacing fillies and heavy favourite Geocentric did not disappoint as she remains a perfect five-for-five in her young career after hitting the finish line in 1:51.
In addition to the KYSS leg, Red Mile featured one $30,000 third leg division of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series and two $15,000 third round divisions of the Kentucky Golden Rod Series for freshman pacing fillies.
Geocentric (Sweet Lou-Geometry) began her mile from post three in the field of six. The filly, in rein to Tim Tetrick, settled in third as Seeuontheotherside (Tony Hall) led the field through a first quarter-mile in :28.3. Geocentric and her driver decided to brush to the lead at the half-mile marker. After establishing fractions of :56.4 and 1:25.1, the outcome of the race was never in doubt as Geocentric glided home with a :25.4 final panel. Seeuontheotherside held for second and Capytreach (Scott Zeron) was third.
Trained by Brian Brown, Geocentric is the swiftest freshman pacer of the season courtesy of her 1:49.4 winning mile on Aug. 1. The filly was bred by Diamond Creek Farm and was purchased for $55,000 at last year’s Standardbred Horse Sale by Milton Leeman, Alan Keith, James Stambaugh and Joe Sbrocco.
Geocentric paid $2.10 to her supporters.
Commonwealth Series Division Goes To Fearless Bettor
Driver Joey Putnam and Fearless Bettor got the best of favourite Flawless (Yannick Gingras) to win by a neck in 1:51.2 in the sole $30,000 third round division of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series for freshman filly pacers. American Hope (Todd McCarthy) was third.
Trained by Steve Elliott, the daughter of Betting Line-No Fear Dear improved her record to 7-3-3-0 and boosted her bankroll to $76,000. The filly was bred by Anvil And Lace Farm and was purchased by her trainer and William Salmeri for $35,000 at last year’s Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.
Fearless Bettor paid $6.86 to win as the public’s second choice in the field of 10.
Favourites Rule In Golden Rod Series
Every Mans Dream (Gingras) captured the first $15,000 third round leg of the Golden Rod Series for two-year-old filly pacers in 1:51.3, repeating in the series for trainer Ron Burke as the public’s top choice. Trained by Brett Pelling, Direction (T. McCarthy) notched her third consecutive victory in the second Golden Rod division in 1:52 as the favourite.

Geocentric
Yesterday's race was the 3rd consecutive one that Geocentric won at odds of 1-20. I don't think that has ever happened before. And she hasn't just been winning; she's been drawing off - she's won her last 4 races by a combined 19 lengths, and her "slowest" final quarter was 26.3. This filly definitely deserves to be ranked in today's Top Ten Poll.
