Art Zubrod of the Artiscape Syndicate has given an update on the status of the 15-year-old Artsplace horse which underwent surgery for colic on Monday, May 24

.

Zubrod has reported that Artiscape has made steady progress following the surgery in which 10 feet of his small intestine was removed.

“While I was unfamiliar with New England Equine Practice, I have to say that I couldn’t be more comfortable with the situation right now," Zubrod said. "They have been very professional and communicative. Matt Harrison of Winbak has been visiting Artiscape daily and is happy with his progress."

Zubrod stated that Artiscape yesterday had normal gastrointestinal responses and appeared bright and alert.

He also stated that while it appears that Artiscape has passed the critical stage, there is still the possibility of post-surgery issues.

Earlier this week, Zubrod reported that Artiscape -- who stands at Winbak Farms of New York and is part of the stallion lineup of Brittany Stallion Management -- will not be available for service for the rest of the season.

Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Artiscape a full and speedy recovery from his surgery.
