Former harness racing industry participant Kathleen (“Kathy”) Donna Galbraith of Hastings, Ont. passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on July 17, 2025 following a brave fight with Glioblastoma at the age of 61.

Beloved partner of Gunnar Wagner for over 40 years. Loving mother of Halie and Jari Wagner. Cherished daughter of Don and Joanne Heath and sister of Ken (Kathy) Galbraith, Lisa Galbraith, and Laurie (Kevin) Palmer. Best friend of Regan Dow. Predeceased by her father, Kenneth Galbraith. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Kathy spent her childhood playing baseball and participating in 4-H, later becoming an active member of Junior Farmers. She enjoyed volunteering at the Norwood Fair since moving to Hastings in 1992 and devoting many memorable years coaching with the Hastings Soccer Club, both during and after her children’s involvement. Kathy also took great pride in cheering from the stands and supporting her kids during their hockey years with the Norwood, West Northumberland and Keene Hockey Associations — a source of joy and countless cherished memories.

Kathy had a lifelong passion for showing horses and ponies, and was a proud supporter of the Canadian Hackney Society, the Canadian Road Horse Association, and the American Saddlebred Associations of Ontario. Her deep love for animals and strong friendships within the horse show community brought her tremendous joy throughout her life.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Campbellford Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion. Special thanks to Bobby Joe and Julia for their support and outstanding care they provided to Kathy. The family would also like to thank Leam and his staff at the Hastings Pharmacy for going the extra mile.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In memory of Kathy, donations may be made to the Campbellford Hospital. Forever loved, never forgotten.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Kathy Galbraith.
