
J M Ooh Lala was the fastest two-year-old pacer among four $8,000 Prospect Series divisions of Leg 2A on Saturday, July 19 at Hiawatha Horse Park.
The daughter of Cattlewash-Gypsy Rose went coast-to-coast in the second filly split, hanging up :28.1, :59.3, and 1:27.4 panels and resisting pocket-tripper Stompa (Damian McLellan) down the stretch to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:57.1. Duvutos Shadow (Garrett Rooney) was third.
J M Ooh Lala, driven by Nick Steward for trainer Ryan Steward, is now one-for-two lifetime. She is owned by R K Joe Miskokomon. She returned $4.90 to win.
EA Hazel ($4.70) stayed perfect in the series, winning the first division for distaffs by a head in 1:57.3 for trainer/driver Stuart Sowerby. Ryan Smith owns and bred the daughter of Bettors Delight-Timmylynn who is now two-for-three.
Starbright Dancer ($10.20) romped in the second group of colts and geldings, winning by three lengths in 1:58 with Natasha Day driving. The Rod Boyd-trained son of Artspeak-Thorne Seelster is undefeated through two starts, both in the Prospect Series, for 1187422 Ontario Inc.
In the first male split, Cabo San Lucas ($2.40) also maintained an unblemished record, scoring by a neck in 1:57.4 in his first Prospect Series start to go two-for-two in his career. MacLellan manned the lines of the Bettors Delight-Spring Break colt for trainer Kyle Fellows and owner Hutt Racing Stable.
The fillies will contest Leg 2B of their Prospect Series at Dresden Raceway on Sunday, July 27. The males will reconvene at that track on Monday, August 4.
