Hudak Praises Godfrey

In the wake of the firing of Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. Chair Paul Godfrey, Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak, who has criticized the OLG's gaming modernization plan since the get go, issued some respectful comments regarding the former OLG Chair.

“We all know Paul Godfrey. He’s a man of integrity," Hudak was quoted as saying. "He’s a respected public servant,” Hudak said Friday.

“And when I see Mr. Godfrey tossed out of the board, the entire board of directors resign, this very much looks like a Liberal government that’s in disarray.”

Godfrey's firing from the OLG came during a significant day for the Ontario gaming sector.

It was also announced on Thursday that the scheduled May 21 Toronto City Council vote on downtown casino expansion and expanded gambling at Woodbine Racetrack has been cancelled.

The cancellation of the meeting has left Woodbine Racetrack in a state of uncertainty regarding the track's status as a location for expansion within the OLG modernization plan.

At last a politician made a horrendous mistake and told the truth concerning his feelings regarding Godfrey, Hudak has been sitting in the weeds letting the Liberals do his dirty work, If anybody ever thought the Tories would reverse the damage that has been inflicted upon the racing industry you are dreaming in technicolor. We have a conundrum now, will the present premier address our problem in a fair and equitable manner and restore some form of decent income to the racing industry and in the process put the run on Tanenbaum and his bingo cronies, I hope so. If I had to chose right now my vote would go to somebody who just might be able the drag our industry out of the gutter and restore some form of fairness and that surely would not be Hudak. That being said we need to clean up our own industry. Yours Michael Spooner.

Well let's see........Duncan hired Godfrey.....McGuinty endorsed Duncan's hiring of Godfrey......Hudak supports Godfrey.......is Hudak part of Team McGuinty/Duncan/Godfrey?

Looks like all I have left to vote for is the Green Party. Hudak will never get my vote now.

I have said it all along that Tim Hudak is for the privatization of everything and his only agenda is to become our next premier so he can get what the liberals have now.i lost any respect I had for him and agree with Bob Mac that he will not get a vote from me either

The first thing Hudak would do is to privatize the OLG, this would be the absolute death of racing. The conservatives would be no friend to the horse racing community and the middle class as a whole.

Considering Mr. Hudak's latest comments, I am wondering if he is the right candidate to lead the PC's into the next election. It also makes me wonder if the PC party is the right party to protect the interests of the horse racing industry in this Province. We as an industry, need to get a solid commitment and find out HOW and IF horse racing will fit into the overall gambling strategy of the Province and get it in writing BEFORE we throw our support behind the PC's or any other party for that matter. Otherwise, we could be contributing to our own demise.

Well, Mr Hudak that statement did it. YOU JUST LOST ANY CHANCE OF GETTING MY VOTE. Bruce T. Winning.

Yes folks, you're reading those comments correctly. Tea Party Tim Hudak, the guy who many on this site seem to think is the saviour of horseracing, is lavishing praise on Paul Godfrey, the very guy who ruined and showed nothing but disrespect for hardworking horsepeople. To quote Mr. Hudak, "we all know Paul Godfrey". Well, Tim, now we all know you.

What! not a very smart thing to say. Pretty soon we will have no one to vote for.

Godfrey a man of integrety,I think not. Mr Hudak if you think that you are no friend of horse racing! You just lost my vote.

Bob McIntosh

Please Mr. Hudak---"integrity", "respected" and "Paul Godfrey" do not belong in the same sentence! I think you have just lost yourself a number of votes from the horse racing sector. Just how would you have dealt with Mr. Godfrey--a staunch Conservtive--if you did manage to win the next election? It may have been a very difficult task if you and your party are truly supportive of our industry. This is the man who, according to some, purposely orchestrated the entire plan to decimate horse racing in Ontario in favour of expanding internationally-owned casinos and bingo halls owned by his buddy, Larry Tanenbaum. He succeeded to a very large extent in that many breeders, owners, trainers and grooms have left the business. Unfortunately, so have many of our horses. Perhaps his termination from the OLG indicates a government that is finally coming to its senses rather than one that is "in disarray". Good riddance to a man (and friends) who is full of his own importance.

pc leader mr hudak do you have any common sense? this man get's no respect for what he did.
