This week's Rewind is another version of Picture Parade. Once again it has a theme to it and this time it's all about Geography. If you didn't excel in Geography while in school, NO problem just read on because this will be way more fun for you.
The aim of this week's guessing game is to establish "Where Is It?" If you were standing where each of these pictures were taken where would you have been? The subjects cover a wide variety of locations from all over the map but each have something to do with the past of harness racing. Precious few of these places still exist most have vanished from the landscape. Hope you enjoy the oldies.
The rules remain the same. You send in your best guess along with the appropriate number and the fun begins. Tune in during the coming week to get a full rundown on the correct answers.
# 1 - Under the heading, "this place looks like it's seen better days" where do you think this picture was taken? Back in the day it was a pretty popular place.
# 2 - Looks like a pretty full parking lot in this circa 1970 photograph. There must have been something pretty important going on. Can you figure out where it is?
# 3 -This was a most unusual structure and perhaps almost a one of a kind type of building if you can even call it that. Where was it located and furthermore what was it used for?
# 4 - The entrance to this once famous location was demolished many years ago so it's good we have a picture to remember it. Where was this entrance located? Name the track if you can.
# 5 - This photo was captured by noted photographer Dave Landry. Can you tell us where it was taken? Pretty famous spot.
# 6 - These stables were demolished a few years ago but stood for many years at a certain location. Where were they a familiar landmark, visible from a couple of different streets?
# 7 - This very interesting collection of horse themed licence plates reportedly once hung in the race secretary's office at a certain U.S. track and perhaps still does. If I have been correctly informed, where was it displayed? Pretty neat, eh!
# 8 - If this track needed a fire truck they didn't want to wait for one to arrive so they had their own. Name the track where this old Mack truck was parked.
# 9 - Can you identify the location shown here? It was named after one of the town's most famous residents who was well known back in the 1800's.
# 10 - Can you recognize where this track is located based on the above aerial photo ? If your answer is "oui", then let us know what you think the location is.
Bonus Photo: Shown above is the homestead of a rather famous racing family. Can you identify the name of the folks who called this lovely house their home?
Quote For The Week: My late father was involved in logging and lumbering for much of his life and always used teams of horses extensively. During stormy or inclement weather he often jokingly said "I don't mind the men being out in this weather but I don't want the horses to be."
