More Politicians Praising NYS Racino Pact

Mainstream news stories continue to flow out of New York State in regard to the continued success of its racino operations. “At a time when the state’s in a difficult economic position, this is a new source of revenue which can really plug a lot of budget holes

,” Queens Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jack Friedman has been quoted as saying.

Friedman's comments have via an article by the Times-Ledger, which cites New York Gaming Association numbers which say the state's nine racetrack casinos led to $1.96-billion in economic activity in 2011 and provided $830.5-million to the state education fund.

The article has also quoted U.S. Representative Gregory Meeks, who said that the fruitful pact between the state and the racinos "creates jobs, jobs, jobs and that’s the No. 1 issue we need to deal with in the district, the state and around the country.”

How can this be......New York state politician's praising a slots-at-tracks program. But Mr. McGuinty and his government paint our slots-at-tracks program a completely different colour. I'm sure the New York slots-at-tracks program can't be too different than ours, the percentages might be slightly different, but in the end EVERYONE benefits. Someone please explain to me how one state says it's a great program and a neighboring Province says it's program should go. Quite perplexing, no.
