Pacers Newborn Sassy and Big Top Hanover along with trotters Dog Gone Lucky and Womans Will turned in winning efforts in Thursday’s 2015 Matron Stakes for two-year-olds at Dover Downs.

“We prepped him for the sire stakes and took our time with him. He’s developed more than we thought he would.”

The stars were out in full force Thursday evening at Dover Downs as the Delaware oval hosted finals of the Matron Stakes for two- and three-year-old pacers and trotters.

“The way we managed him for this year is mostly for next year. We decided to go easy with him early in the year and he’s come around.”

Canadian-connected horses look to figure prominently into the eight lucrative Matron Stakes races set for Thursday at Dover Downs.
