Leamington Raceway has announced it will be hosting a women’s driving challenge this Sunday, Oct. 17 as part of its fifth annual Leamington Ladies' Day supporting Harness the Hope.
Founded by the Dustin family 16 years ago, Harness the Hope raises funds, awareness and supports programs that help those affected by cancer. Proceeds benefit the Breast Cancer Society of Canada and the Pink Pearl Foundation.
Top Ontario female drivers Natasha Day, Marielle Enberg, Pam Forgie, Samara Johnson, Britt Kennedy, Andrea Leon and Julie Walker will compete in the women's driving challenge, which runs through the afternoon's first five races. Leamington Mayor Hilda MacDonald will be on-track to make the winner's trophy presentation.
As part of the Harness the Hope day's events, Leamington will host a "Best Dressed in the Backstretch Contest,” with $200 prize packs awarded to a winning “Best Dressed Horse” and “Best Dressed Groom” who display as much pink attire as possible.
Fans in attendance can enter a "Tuff Enuff to Wear Pink Contest" by wearing pink and filling out a ballot at the Harness the Hope table for a chance to win prizes.
Harness the Hope t-shirts, hoodies, hats, gifts and more will be available to purchase with all proceeds donated to the cause.
First-race post time for Sunday is 1 p.m.
