The attack on our industry is quickly becoming vicious to the extreme. How dare the OLG and their political leaders carry out their agenda on tax paying, hard working people. Big boys don*t cry but my eyes are teary over this expected devestation. If nothing else changes the next sale will be worse. I agree with Mr. Hall, our tracks and negotiaters have been deafenly silent! The breeding industry has been dealt a fatal blow and will probably shut down completely as no business can accept this kind of needless hit to the bottom line. How many more working class people will we allowed to become unemployed before we rise up and speak with one voice and fight back with some seriousness? The top one percent will not be satisfied till SLAVERY returns for all of us! I*ve had enough of this, HOW ABOUT YOU? To the opposition parties do me a favor and bring these tyrants down!

The way I see it is that it doesn't matter whether you are a Canadian or American breeder you have all just lost the shirt off your back. The transition panel ,formed by the Liberal government , has confirmed our findings concerning employment, economic impact on rural Ontario, the thousands of horses that will be slaughtered etc. at great cost to the tax payers of Ontario and still the government will not even consiser reinstating the program. They would rather make Ontarians put up with unsavory characters and give the USA most of the gambeling profits that they make. The casinoes they have now are loosing money so they won't be giving away very much when the rest of them are all built. They will however be loosing billions from SAR and paying millions more in welfare & unemployment insurance . Let's wake up. If the breeders go down it is the first step in the inevitable decline of our Industry. Norm Hall is correct. If we can't get the support of OUR racetracks we have nothing and if we don't start playing hardball we all might as well throw in the towell. The beeders can't wait for the ombudsman or the auditor general. They need some sort of action NOW.

Norm Hall ...Finally someone else thinks as I do.....If a facility can not produce races, such as MOHAWK will NOT DO after Dec 15, 2012....PULL THE PLUG ON THE HYDRO THAT IS FUELING THE SLOTS PARLOUR !!!!If the OLG thinks they are not making enough money from the S@R program...show the Liberals what that really looks like..
I use Mohawk as an example. I assume their tenant is the OLG and the OLG is not a good tenant...throw the tenant OUT ON THEIR EAR and best way to do so is to SHUT OFF THE HYDRO
The CAW can go on strike , the Teachers can go to court, the Dr's can take the government to court...Our only recourse at this time is for ALL TRACKS to shut down the HYDRO Effective a certain date..Maybe DEC 15, 2012 would work...
The GOVERNMENT does not seem to appreciate 1.2 BILLION DOLLARS...show the Government what $0.oo look like....!!!!!!!!
What have we got to loose at this point...This will hurt some I'm sure but they plan on hurting us anyway come MARCH 31, 2013. Lets fight with fire..we have been too soft on these idiots

I need to get something off my chest.

What are the tracks thinking ? So far, except for a whine or two from Woodbine they have been silent. It seems they are so afraid of losing their opportunity to be the casino of choice in their area that they have forgotten why they are in the gambling business in the first place. They got the slots because they run a racetrack. If racing dies they will be at the mercy of the OLG who will determine where the local casino goes and unless they have their Liberal membership up to date and a large donation forthcoming they can kiss their slots operation goodbye.

It is time for the tracks to collectively close their doors to OLG and the Liberals. Cut off the revenue. Force the government to rethink their agenda.

I seem to recall Ontario finance minister Dwight Duncan when referring to Joe Thomson saying something to the effect that much of,if not the majority of the money generated by the breeder's program in Ontario went to "rich Americans" Well here is what that "rich American" breeder did at the Canadian yearling sale over the weekend. If my figues are correct, Joe's Winbak Farms sold 26 yearlings for $143,900 an average of slightly over $5,500. Going on the cheap(which Joe does not do), I would guess that exclusive of stud fees it costs a minimum of $10,000 to get a yearling to the sales ring. I'm guessing that this so called "rich American" isn't taking any money out of Canada.
