High Five For The Mame Event

Rick Zeron has a reputation be being a solid “trot man”, and The Mame Event’s recent success more than backs up the statement

.

Since joining forces with Zeron’s stable earlier this summer the four-year-old son of Chip Chip Hooray-Hello Mamie has faced the starting gate five times, and in all five instances he has gone home a winner.

The latest score for The Mame Event was a narrow one in a $25,000 conditioned event at Mohawk Racetrack on Monday evening. The gelding slid into an early three-hole for Zeron, who had his new recruit on the move as soon as the field entered the backstretch. He cleared to the lead without a tussle and laid down middle panels of :56 and 1:24.4 before summoning up a :29.3 final frame en route to posting the 1:54.2 victory.

The Mame Event, who is owned by Rick Zeron Stables, John Brown and Jack Sawatzky, won for the 11th time this season in 20 starts. The 14-time winner has banked $88,088.
