Ontario Racing announced on Wednesday, June 19 the launch of its free Kids’ Day Camp scheduled to make stops at eight racetracks in the province this summer.
The fun and educational program is designed for children ages six through 12 and will be held during live race cards beginning at the first-race post time.
The event does not require registration. Kids are welcome to just show up on race day.
The Kids' Day Camp offers a unique opportunity for young horse racing fans to experience the excitement of the sport up close. Each event will feature a meet and greet with a professional trainer, driver or jockey, interactive learning stations on horse care, feeding treats and braiding, and fun activities including colouring and a seek-and-find game.
The camps at Standardbred tracks are presented by the Central Ontario Standardbred Association (COSA). The camps at Thoroughbred tracks are presented by the Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association (HBPA).
