An emotional Don McElroy expressed his sincere gratitude to Trot Insider as a result of the outpouring of support shown to him by the harness racing fraternity at Wednesday's Walltyme Golf Tournament

.

"I want to thank the Wall family, Ian Fleming, Sam Patterson and everyone who showed their support," stated McElroy, "and Mark MacDonald as well, who is truly a class act.

"It was great to see old and new friends, and people I don't even know," continued McElroy. "It's amazing how the industry comes together at a time like this and it truly means a lot to me."

McElroy, who was injured in an accident on May 31 at Clinton Raceway, told Trot Insider that there will be a few months of rehab on his wrist after a follow-up meeting with doctors in September 1.

"It's not about how much was raised and donated," expressed McElroy, "it's the support that everyone has shown."

According to tournament co-ordinator and trainer Dean Wall, approximately 120 golfers turned out for the 17th Annual Walltyme Stables' Charity Golf Tournament at the Caradoc Sands Golf Club in Strathroy, Ontario.

"The racebike raffle was a big hit," said Wall. "The bike was cleared $5,000 in ticket sales and we'd like to thank Doug Wilson of Wilson's Tack and Brodeur for their help."

Jonathan Gangell was the lucky winner of the Brodeur 4 Stars racebike.

Wall continued to say that everyone had a great time at the tournament and he would also like to thank everyone for their support, and for buying and selling tickets.

I met Donnie and his wife Wendy six years ago at the race track in Clinton and ever since I met him he became my favourite driver. When he had his accident in Grand River my mom had heard about it on the news and she woke me up out of bed to tell me and at first I had thought that I was dreaming until she had told me again then I started freaking and was like wanting to go see him ASAP. This accident he had at Clinton I was there the day it happened and oh man I freaked that I did not know if I wanted to go to the hospital to be with Donnie's wife Wendy or just come home so I came home.

Donnie and Wendy are the best friends that anyone could ever have and I wish Donnie all the best well he has to go through the therapy and everything.

classy act by all, its so nice to hear that there are still people out there willing to help others out, who are in need, i live beside this man, and he lives, and breathes this business, and for people he didn't know, and friends, and friends he hasn't seen in along time to come out and support him, meant the world to him....he told me, he felt stupid for getting sooo emotional at the banquet, but i said thats who he is, he didn't give a long-drawn-out-speech, meaning nothing.....his heart spoke for him, and i know it spoke volumes.......he was sooooo appreciative for everything, the people who sponsered, to the people who volunteered their time, to everyone who bought tickets, and supported him, to the people who put this event on, you have no idea what this meant to him....he is so touched, and will remember you all.......................

thank-you, from someone who doesn't really know this business all that well, but got to see what a great group of people you all are.............
