As an article by pressrepublican.com explains, the veteran sulky-sitter of more than 60 years broke a hip last August when rubbing down a horse.
Burgess recently scored a victory with 13-year-old Kash Crown gelding Royal Rogue at the half-mile Westport oval in New York.
And when it comes to the fair circuit, Burgess is a big fan. "Everyone says it's going out of style," the report quoted Burgess as saying, "but I don't believe it. I encourage it."

I remember him driving at
I remember him driving at the old Green Mountain in Vermont, and Hinsdale in New Hampshire, racetracks set in two very pretty locations. Unfortunately, both are gone. I would like to know if the newspaper realizes their mistake with the photo. If they do not, it is a commentary on the public awareness of our sport.
