A full day of excitement was featured on Saturday at Adrenaline, Canada’s Racing Festival, at Hiawatha Horse Park. Those in attendance were entertained with a full card of harness racing among other fun-filled events

.

A pair of Preferreds headlined the 12-race harness program, which saw Michigan invader Cammabis pull off a 15-1 upset in the $15,000 Preferred Pace and the London, Ont.-based Pacific Prince win the $10,000 Preferred 2 Pace.

In the tenth race, driver Gene Piroski and Cammabis advanced first-over from fourth through panels of :26.3, :55.3 and 1:23.4 before sprinting home to win by a length in 1:53 over the pacesetter and favourite Lyons Geoff (Mark Williams). Grand Bend Turbo (Mike Sumner) finished third off a two-hole trip.

Trained by Paul Holzman of New Hudson, Michigan and owned by Fred Reitberger of Boca Raton, Florida, Cammabis won for the ninth time this year in 29 starts. The six-year-old Cambest-Majestic Lady gelding scored his 27th lifetime win and lifted his earnings to $209,695.

Earlier in the seventh race, Pacific Prince, with Nicholas Steward in the bike, left from Post 6 and led the field through early fractions of :27 and :57.3 before Argyle Albert (Mark MacQuarrie) matched his strides at three-quarters in 1:25.2. Pacific Prince shook off his challenger heading into the stretch and prevailed by a length and a quarter over favourite Resessitate (Glen Hardy). P J Lucky (Terry Kerr) rounded out the top three.

Pacific Prince earned his third win in 16 outings this year for trainer Kim Bakker and owners Martin Otoole and Thomas Lawson of London, Ont. The six-year-old gelded son of Northern Luck-Sunnie Corleone now sports 16 wins on his lifetime record and $144,950 in purse earnings.

Other highlights of the day include the Shaken and Stirred Bartenders Competition, McCann Dog Show, Professional Beach Volleyball demos and skills competition, the Ms. Adrenaline Bikini Contest, Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Tour and performances by local bands including Hello Bella.

And,on Saturday night, they bet $27,409 on whatever - like Bartenders Competitions and Dog Shows and Beach Volleyball and Bikini contests and Band Concerts and somewhere in there were lost in the shuffle - a few HARNESS RACES!!
And at Charlottetown they bet $201.957.00 on HARNESS RACES!!!!! (Plus the AFTERNOON Handle!)
I seem to be missing the point of this totally failed marketting attempt. And more importantly why it was scheduled on the same dates as, arguably, the greatest spectacle in Canadian Harness Racing - Old Home Week at Charlottetown?
And why no Live Video Streaming and Online wagering was available from Sarnia as it was from Charlottetown??

BTW - I couldn't find any Entries/Results for Sunday at Sarnia but I still saw that it cost $10.00 for an Adult admission?
