Trot Insider has received information regarding the Port Perry Fair's program of live harness racing, which has been scheduled for Sunday, September 1.
On Monday, August 19, the Ontario Racing Commission announced that it has approved an allocation of $7,500 for purses, with the condition that purses not exceed an average of $1,000 per race. These monies will be sourced from the Quinte Racetrack purse account held in trust by Kawartha Downs.
The fair's card will kick off with a 1:00 p.m. first-race post time.
Entries for the Port Perry Fair have been extended to 9:00 p.m. this evening (Monday, August 26). Entries can be called in to Jerry Blackburn at 905-985-0288.

Please note that drivers and trainers must have a valid license with Standardbred Canada and that participants will be subject to breathalyzer testing. Officials with the fair would also like participants to make sure they have third-party liability insurance (Note: If horsepeople looking to participate are members of COSA or OHHA, this is also third-party insurance).
Horsemen's Liability Program: Should your horse injure someone or damage property of others, then you would be covered for damage, as the court would determine, up to $1,000,000. In addition, all legal costs incurred to defend you from a third party claim (lawsuit) are paid. The plan is in effect 24 hours a day in any location in North America.
Glad that they were able to
Glad that they were able to save Port Perry...would someone like to step up & save the Markham Fair? This fair has been around forever & the last couple of years they've taken the races away..can they do the same for Markham like they're doing for Port Perry? Please help save fair racing in Ontario
