One of this year's top three-year-olds was purchased by an owner who has always wanted a major player in the glamour boy division, and after seeing his own stable star shelved with an injury

, he closed in on his coveted contender.b

Richard Young, the gregarious owner of sidelined pacing mare Put On A Show has purchased Foreclosure N from Hall of Famer Peter Heffering for an undisclosed sum.

"I guess I got the itch," Young told Trot Insider. "This year with everyone on the shelf - and I mean everyone - I had nothing to race. Put On A Show spoiled me. I either had to try and buy something or not race anything until next Spring."

Young was interested in a few top prospects, but while watching racing at Mohawk one night, the three-year-old son of Rocknroll Hanover caught his eye.

"I tried numerous two-year-olds but no one wanted to sell. I always watch the glamour division of three-year-old colts with envy," noted Young. "In 25 years I've never had a colt compete with the best. As a matter of fact, not since 1990 have I been in a stake with a competitive male horse.

"I watched Foreclosure in the North America Cup come from the 10 hole and thought he was a nice colt. Then one night I saw him destroy some nice Preferred older horses on a sloppy track. I said to myself that is one nice colt."

Young kept his eye on the speedy sophomore, whose poor post draws - Post 10 in both the North America Cup and Meadowlands Pace - were well documented.

"I didn't think he could be purchased before the Meadowlands Pace so I waited until after the race," stated Young. "I was telling people I think I already own this horse the way he draws!"

After the Meadowlands Pace, Young contacted Heffering and the deal was finalized on Friday.

"I'd like to say Mr. Heffering is one of the nicest men I've ever dealt with in this business. Class is not a strong enough word."

Foreclosure N will make his first start for Young and new trainer Kevin O'Reilly on Saturday in a three-year-old Open if it fills. If not, plans are for the colt to qualify and then race in the Confederation Cup at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, August 14.

Update to the story: Saturday's three-year-old Open Pace at Mohawk did not fill, look for Foreclosure to qualify on Friday morning.
