With the Pompano Park racing season just six weeks away, the Florida Amateur Driving Club and its members are revving up early.
Since its inception, the FADC has donated over $170,000 to worthwhile causes as its membership donates all driving earnings to fund these organizations.
Though there is no racing currently at Pompano Park, the driving club refuses to sit idle in its charitable giving.
Under the leadership of president Dein Spriggs, the FADC is partnering with the Go for the Greens Foundation in saluting a breast cancer survivor that needs financial assistance.
This year’s recipient is Tampa, Florida resident Nancy Hernandez, who is a breast cancer survivor and working on creating empowerment programs for women.
Hernandez has also helped coordinate a ‘Breast Cancer Walk’ with her church and has been active in hosting workshops on this important subject.
She will receive her award at the upcoming Go for the Greens conference in September in Orlando, Florida.
Cindy Chase, co-founder of Go for the Greens, said, “it’s really great that the Florida Amateur Drivers continually steps up to the ‘18th green’ to help us reach continual new plateaus of success. They certainly have been a godsend to our cause.”
FADC President Spriggs echoed those thoughts by saying, “Though we aren’t racing right at this very moment, our club deems it important to try and help worthwhile causes year around, and the Go for the Greens organization fights one of the most important issues in our world today.
“This contribution actually originated from the Isle International Series, which we hosted last season in which many foreign drivers participated.
“Yes, we are Florida based, but our goodwill has stretched far beyond our borders – something of which we are very proud.”
