The Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition, which is home to Truro Raceway, has unveiled its new general manager. The announcement has come after the NSPE’s last GM left the position after just three months in the role.

An article by the Truro Daily News states that a Bible Hill resident with a background in financial services took over the vacant role on August 4.

The NSPE’s new GM is Joe Nicholson, who recently worked as a CIBC branch manager and is hoping to see the complex become a larger economic driver in the area.

“I believe one of the reasons I was asked to consider doing this is my background in finances,” Nicholson told the Truro Daily News. “I’m getting to know the place now and trying to understand how everything works. I want to build on the positive and make any changes that need to be made. I would like to be here as long as it takes to make sure it’s in a good place.”

Nicholson went on to state that he wants “to strengthen the exhibition complex and make sure it is really in a good place to move forward and on sound financial footing,” adding, “I want it to be able to have a long and prosperous life and contribute to the community.”

Nicholson’s addition to the fold at the NSPE comes roughly three months after now-former exhibition GM Darrelyn Hubley was introduced and said, “This is a big challenge but I love a challenge. I think this is a valuable complex to the province as a whole and it’s worth the effort.”
