On Tuesday (Aug. 1) at Red Mile, Geocentric (Sweet Lou-Geometry) tossed down a :26.3 final panel en route to a 1:49.4 mile in the $80,000 Kentucky Sires Stake for two-year-old fillies, the fastest clocking for any two-year-old pacer this year.
Throughout the card, Red Mile hosted two $80,000 first round divisions of the Kentucky Sire Stakes, three $30,000 second round legs of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series and four $15,000 second round divisions of the Kentucky Golden Rod Series for freshman and sophomore filly trotters and pacers.
Driven by Tim Tetrick, Geocentric immediately went to the lead from post one. The heavy favourite clicked off fractions of :28.1, :56 and 1:23.1 as the Brian Brown trainee was never seriously challenged, hitting the line a full second in front of Gifted One (Todd McCarthy). Reachingforthemoon (Andrew McCarthy) was third.
Bred by Diamond Creek Farm, Geocentric was a $55,000 purchase at the 2022 Standardbred Horse Sale. This was her third victory in as many starts. Geocentric is owned by Milton Leeman, Alan Keith, James Stambaugh and Joe Sbrocco. She paid $2.10 to win.
Mommamia Volo captured the $80,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes division for three-year-old trotting fillies in 1:52.2. With Todd McCarthy at the controls, the daughter of Tactical Landing and the outstanding mare Margarita Momma popped the pocket to win the third race of her career from 11 starts. The margin of victory was a head and the final time was 1:52.2. Karaboudjan (Mathias Melander) finished second and Caviart Gwen (Scott Zeron) was third.
Trained by Carter Pinske, Mommamia Volo races as a homebred for Kentuckiana Racing Stables and Jorgen Jahre Jr.
Catholic, Fearless Bettor and Capytreach each took a win in the $30,000 Commonwealth Series legs.
Catholic (Tim Tetrick) collected her first win of the season in the sole $30,000 second round division of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series for three-year-old filly trotters. Moni Lisa (David Miller) was second and Swanky Hanover (Andrew McCarthy) was third.
Catholic paid $4.20 to win. Trained by Marcus Melander, the filly competes as a homebred for Diamond Creek Farm. Her record now stands at 3-3-0 in eight starts and she has earned $67,200.
Fearless Bettor (Betting Line-No Fear Dear) and Joey Putnam scored an upset in the first of two $30,000 second round divisions of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series for freshman filly pacers. Blazing Belle (Zeron) held the place position while Jus A Miki Moment (Tim Tetrick) came home third.
Trained by Steve Elliott, the filly is owned by her conditioner and William Salmeri. Fearless Bettor, who now has a record of 2-2-0 in five starts, paid $37.56 to win. Flawless (Yannick Gingras) was second and Irreplaceable (Andrew McCarthy) was third.
Capytreach (Captaintreacherous-Southwind Thundra) tripped the teletimer in 1:51.3 to break her maiden in her fifth career start.
Capytreach paid $7.40 to win. Piloted by Zeron, the freshman filly pacer is trained by Linda Toscano. She is owned by West Wins Stable, Eric Good and Mark Dumain and was bred by Buckstone Land Livestock.
Explosive Trix (Peter Wrenn, Melanie Wrenn, $54.78), Direction (Todd McCarthy, Brett Pelling, $3.80), Over Board (David Miller, Pinske, $5.52) and Flower Shops (Zeron, Dewayne Minor, $8.30) all took their respective divisions of the Kentucky Golden Rod Series for two- and three-year-old female trotters and pacers.

Lexington’s famed Red Mile continues its summer championship stakes season on Sunday, Aug. 6 with a monumental 16-race program -- 10 of which are stakes events for two-year-olds and three-year-olds..
The program also has a pair of carryovers, guaranteed pools and a rich buffet of exotic offerings featuring the lowest takeouts in the pari-mutuel industry.
The 1 p.m. kickoff features a 20-cent Pick-6 carryover of $5,026 with a 15 per cent takeout and a guaranteed pool of $20,000. The second carryover is in the Super Hi-5 fifth race, which combines a $3,692 boost going in to go along with a low 15 per cent takeout.
There are a trio of Pick-4 events, beginning in races six, 10 and 13, respectively, all featuring an industry low 12 per cent takeout. The Pick-4 beginning with race six has a $10,000 guaranteed pool.
The program will also feature “bookend” daily doubles, exacta and trifecta wagering and four Pick-3 offerings.
On the equine side of the ledger, a pair of $80,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes Championship events are on the card featuring a well matched quartet of two-year-old pacers in the 13th race and a a quintet of talented sophomore pacers in race 15.
