An official with the Ohio Lottery Commission has gone on the record as saying that video lottery terminals in the expanded gaming area at Scioto Downs took in more revenue than expected during its first month of operation.

According to an article by The Columbus Dispatch, the machines at the raceway took in more than $11 million in revenue, which has worked out to $3.7 million for the state.

The report has said that the OLC was anticipating its cut of revenue from the machines to be $3 million for the first month.

“It’s above what we projected, so we’re pleased,” OLC Spokeswoman Danielle Frizzi-Babb was quoted as saying.

Last week, Scioto Downs GM Stacy Cahill also conveyed that she has been very happy with the first month since the machines came in.

“We’ve had large fields in many of our races and that really jumpstarts the handle,” Cahill said. “The handle on a 10-horse field is significantly more than what you get on a six or seven-horse field and we’ve had a lot of races with full fields."

Lets not try anything crazy like this in Ontario. God forbid our government take in such fantastic revenues from racetrack site.

Is there a font for sarcasm?
