Veteran driver Danny Johnson celebrated a major milestone at Dresden Raceway on Sunday by virtue of joining the 5,000-win club

The 59-year-old reinsman from Windsor, ON notched the victory in the ninth race aboard Mr Snicker. Johnson fired the four-year-old Rambaran gelding to the front and never looked back through fractions of :29.3, :59.1 and 1:29.4 en route to a final clocking of 1:59.4. Johnson also picked up win number 5,001 thanks to a wire-to-wire triumph Get And Gone in the tenth race.

Over the course of his career Johnson has amassed more than $24 million in purses.

Windsor Raceway officials have a ceremony planned for Johnson and his 5,000th victory when racing resumes at that track in the fall.
