Brady Lagace picked up his first career driving win with a confident score aboard Some Might Say on Saturday, July 13 at Hanover Raceway.

Making just his fourth career pari-mutuel appearance, Lagace showed the poise of a grizzled veteran in the afternoon's eighth race. Lagace left for position with Some Might Say and fronted the field early, then yielded to a parked out and driving Renegade Beach (Terry Fritz) after a :29.2 opening panel. With the backfield approaching heading for the half, Lagace popped the pocket and made his move to challenge as the timer displayed 1:00.1 at the midway point.

The field bunched up down the backside, but Some Might Say cleared just past the 1:30.1 third station. Showing he had lots left in the tank, Some Might Say uncorked a :31.3 closer to widen his lead with every final quarter stride. The mile was timed in 2:01.4 and the win margin over Liquor Is Quicker (Carter Gimblett) at the wire was four lengths.

Lagace picked up his first win in the process, and also guided three-year-old Some Might Say (Artspeak - Life Is A Lady) to his first win in eight attempts for trainer Meg Crone, who co-owns with Anthony Haughan of Cambridge, Ont.

Hanover's card of harness racing also hosted its fifth annual Harness The Hope Day, with four dashes for the breast cancer awareness fundraising collective featuring female drivers in races two through five. Two of those four races were won by Natasha Day, with Day guiding Perfect Smiley ($7.10; 1:58.3) to victory in the afternoon's third race and Rock N Pebbles ($6.30; 2:01.1) in the fifth. The other dashes were captured by Brittany Kennedy aboard Azucar Pipedream ($5; 2:00) and Anita Ouellette with Mac Silver ($3.10; 1:58.3)

Charmbo Prince had everything his way as the 4-5 shot in the $5,000 Preferred 3 Pace, and the seven-year-old Royalty For Life gelding made every call a winning one en route to the 1:58.2 score. J Harris engineered the winning trip for Charmbro Prince to notch his 20th career tally, winning by six over Sizzlen Hot Herbie (Day) with Jay Richard Nyce (Lormer McClure) next best.

Pam Forgie trains and co-owns Charmbo Prince ($3.80) with David Wilkinson of Goderich, Ont. With the win, Charmbo Prince now sports $185,651 in career earnings.
