Drivers Jack Flanigen and Ray Fisher Jr. have been released from hospital following a four-horse accident that took place on Friday night in a New York Sire Stakes event at Buffalo Raceway.
According to a statement released by Buffalo Raceway on Saturday morning from Tim Bojarski, President Upstate New York Harness Writers Association, Fisher Jr. took the brunt of the accident suffering injuries to his back and pelvis.
“I was at ECMC last night to see Jack Flanigen," said Bojarski. "He checked out okay and was sent home. No concussion, no broken bones, nothing but sore from hitting the track.
"Jim Mango (Buffalo Raceway COO) called me this morning and told me he talked to Ray Fisher, who was sent home this morning. He has a broken back (two vertebrae) and a fractured pelvis, but will not require surgery. He said about five weeks off.
"So as bad as it looked, it turned out better than what most of us expected.”
Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Flanigen and Fisher Jr. a full and speedy recovery.
