WEG Wants To Be Player In Sports Wagering

New Woodbine Entertainment Group CEO Nick Eaves has been cited as saying that when legalized, single-team wagering on sports gets the green light in Ontario, he wants WEG to be a player

.

Eaves' comments come via an article by Sovereign Award-winning horse racing writer Dave Perkins in the Toronto Star.

As for Eaves' stance on the possibility of the legalization of single-match wagering on sporting events, Perkins wrote: As for single-team sports betting, he (Eaves) said he has heard “the rumblings . . . it seems to be more imminent than it’s ever been.’’ When it happens, he wants Woodbine to be the site of a sports book.

It was this week announced by The Cordish Company -- WEG's partner in the multi-million-dollar Woodbine Live! expansion at Woodbine Racetrack -- that ground would be broken on the highly-anticipated project this fall.

Eaves also touches on many other current elements of WEG's business in Perkins' article, which can be read in its entirety by clicking here.

If single team sports betting becomes legal in ontario and weg gets to be a player that will be great news for those that visit mohawk and woodbine. Finally you will be able to go there and for the 1st time ever bet on something that has a fair house take.

Oh course he wants WEG to be the sports book!!Single team wager will put harness racing out of business in 1 year.

The race tracks of Ontario have gotten about 2.5 BILLION bucks in the last ten years from the slots,it's time to spread the money around and give the book to someone other then WEG.
