
A quartet of $27,397 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) second-leg divisions for trotters headlined the Wednesday, June 25 program at Harrington Raceway, on a day when temperatures soared to near-record highs.
In the first division for fillies, Kats Fancy ($2.80, Cody Poliseno) delivered an impressive 1:57.3 victory for owner Jane Dunavant, holding off Take It Easy (Ross Wolfenden) and Peggys Girl (Trae Porter). The win marked the third straight for the Dusty Winner filly (pictured above), who is trained by Carlo Poliseno.
The second filly split went to Marino Bluestone ($3, Jim Morand), who captured her division in 2:01.4 over Holly Lou(Allan Davis) and Song Master (Cody Poliseno). Owned by Nanticoke Racing and Delbert Cain, and trained by Les Givens, the Anders Bluestone filly now boasts three career victories. The Givens stable was red hot this week, having picked up four wins on Tuesday’s program.
In the first division for male trotters, Bucky Highway ($11.80, Ross Wolfenden) unleashed a late rally to score in 2:00.3 for owners Howard Kauffman and Josh Kaufmann. The Iron Mine Bucky gelding notched his third career win, defeating I’m Not George (Eddie Dennis) and Legend Of Rock (Corey Callahan).
Yale ($4, Art Stafford Jr.) took the second division for colts and geldings in 2:00.4, fending off Delaware Xactly (Jason Thompson) and Wolfpack Cheddar (Montrell Teague). The EL Platinum gelding, owned and trained by Stacy Johnson-Stafford, earned his second career victory. Stafford Jr. enjoyed a big night, piloting four winners on the card.
On the undercard, Dyladmar ($5, Stafford Jr.) posted a 1:57.2 score for Dreamville Stable, while Lizzy Lauxmont ($38.80, Cody Poliseno) shocked the tote board with a 1:55 victory for trainer Sam Banks in $19,863 winners-over trotting divisions.
The top eight point earners from the DSBF eliminations will return to compete in the $110,000 USD final on July 17.
Harrington wraps up its final week of live racing before the summer break from June 30 to July 2, with post time set for 4:30 p.m. each day.
