Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) has reached an agreement with TVG, America's leading horseracing network, to broadcast both its thoroughbred and standardbred live racing products from Woodbine and Mohawk racetracks throughout the United States
. As part of the deal, TVG will also offer online wagering on all WEG races through its TVG.com website.
“Woodbine offers very competitive racing with both breeds, offering large fields, payouts and purse structures which are very attractive to the American horseplayer," said Sean Pinsonneault, Vice-President of Wagering Services. "The Woodbine racing products are recognized as being among the best in North America and TVG has proven to be a great spot to showcase them."
Broadcast coverage and online wagering for WEG racing will begin Friday, June 19. TVG customers will now have the opportunity to wager on the longest-continuously run stakes race in North America, the 150 year-old Queen's Plate, as well as have a chance at the new $150,000 Turbo-charged Pick 6 announced earlier this week. There will be $150,000 added to the June 21st Pick 6 carryover with a guaranteed minimum carryover for the following Sundays of $150,000.
TVG is the leading horse racing television network in the United States offering exclusive, live programming from the country's premier thoroughbred, quarter horse and harness racetracks. In 2008 TVG accepted over $500 million in wagers, making it the largest advance wagering company in the US. TVG and TVG.com were recently acquired by Betfair, the world's largest, legal online wagering company.
"WEG produces exceptional racing at some of the preeminent tracks in North America and we're thrilled to reach an agreement with such a revered partner," said Gerard Cunningham, president of Betfair US. "This agreement will allow TVG customers and horseracing fans across America to enjoy the best thoroughbred and standardbred racing in Canada."
