Talespinner Passes

After sweeping last year's $50,000 Bridger Trotting Series, Talespinner passed on Monday according to trainer Ben Baillargeon

Baillargeon said the son of Andover Hall-Fairy Tail began to show symptoms of colitis on Saturday morning.

"It all started on Saturday," Baillargeon commented. "He had bad diarrhea and a mild fever so we had Dr. John Hennessey come to the farm and have a look at him. We ran a bunch of jugs through him and that seemed to help but this morning it got worse. We took him to the University of Guelph and he passed around noon today."

Last season, Talespinner was a highly regarded two-year-old, before making costly breaks in both the eliminations of the William Wellwood Memorial Trot and Breeders Crown.

Heading into this season, Talespinner made three failed qualifying attempts before charting a clean line this past Thursday at Mohawk.

Richard Berthiaume of Pointe-Aux-Trembles, Quebec owns the three-time winner who earned $43,000 last season.

What a waste ! And a big lost for his owner , Mr Richard Berthiaume !
I too was looking forward in watching Tailspinner this season, he showed so much talent, so much class, so much speed ! A rising Star ! One that could have had it all !
I think of you often Mr. Berthiaume, One of Quebec s Top Race Horse Owners , I was sad to see you leave Quebec, but understood, and I was also very happy to see your success in Ontario with this Extraordinary horse, Tailspinner , I feel for you and your horse !
You have been lucky in the past with your horses, and your luck will return !

ANOTHER GREAT LOST FOR THE GARLAND LOBELL BLOOD LINE !

so, so sorry to hear this...i will never forget watching him pass horses like they were standing still around the last turn at Mohawk. I was anxiously waiting to see if Ben Baillargeon got him sorted out for his 3 yr old campaign. I noticed he stayed flat his last qualifier so was looking forward to seeing him in his first race. My heart goes out to all involved with Tailspinner...gonna miss him

RIP

I totally agree with Mr Casselman comments. In his first lifestart, he won so easily over older horses ... that was just incredible. I will ever remember the way he went through the whole field in that first start. I was looking forward watching him this season.

A big lost for his connections and for the fans. This story is very sad to hear.

RIP Talespinner

The most talented young trotter I have ever seen. Many agreed with me they way they were trying to buy him after The Bridger series early last year. What a waste. R.I.P. Tailspinner.
