Ohio Horsemen Sidelined After Accident

Drivers Dan Noble and Jack Dailey are recovering from injuries sustained in a racing accident last Thursday at Scioto Downs, but won’t be back driving for a while

.

The accident occurred during the final quarter of the first race and five of the 10 starters did not finish. Three others were distanced as Forever Ivy won the race by more than 11 lengths.

Noble was driving pacesetting Terror Talk for trainer Danny Collins when the horse suddenly broke stride near the three-quarter pole, setting off a chain reaction among the trailing horses. Noble suffered a rotator cuff injury to his shoulder that will reportedly keep him out of the sulky for 6-8 weeks.

Jack Dailey was steering Minnie Market for trainer Doug Stovall and couldn’t avoid the accident. Dailey broke two vertebrae in his upper back when he went down. It’s not known how long he’ll be away from racing action.

No other drivers were seriously injured. Betting on the race was refunded.
