If having stakes-winning pedigree counts for anything, a full-brother to a recent North America Cup winner is worth keeping an eye on after his successful qualifier on Tuesday (May 19).
During the session of qualifiers on Tuesday at Scioto Downs, sophomore pacer Dragon Roars Again was a winner in 1:57.3 over a 'good' track with a two-second allowance. Driver Brett Miller guided the son of Dragon Again - Armbro Cinnamon to a first-up score, two lengths to the good over pacesetter Fifty Flat (Jeff Nisonger).
Dragon Roars Again is a full-brother to 2017 North America Cup winn Fear The Dragon, and is owned by breeder Bruce Trogdon under his Emerald Highlands Farm stable. Unraced at two due to injury, Trogdon told Trot Insider that Dragon Roars Again is "a very tall version of his brother with the same guts and mentality."
Now in the care of trainer Kelly O'Donnell, Dragon Roars Again is one of the colts still eligible to the 2020 Pepsi North America Cup, slated for Saturday, August 29 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
"[The injury] makes him go to his knees so we will probably keep him off smaller tracks, but he has the go for sure. Brett Miller likes him," said Trogdon. "We did it the right way this year, and I would love nothing more than to get back to Mohawk."
