After undergoing quadruple bypass surgery on Friday, 63-year-old owner and breeder Doug Nash is expected to make a full recovery

.

Trot Insider has learned that Nash was admitted into Cambridge Memorial Hospital last Sunday with chest pains and after an angiogram, it was discovered that he had three blocked arteries. The resident of Cambridge, Ont. was transferred to St. Mary's General Hospital in Kitchener on Thursday to undergo surgery the following day.

“While in surgery it was discovered he needed a quadruple,” Nash’s son, Jon, told Trot Insider. “My mother, Doreen, has informed me that that surgery went very well and he is expected to make a full recovery. He should be home from the hospital in a week.”

One of the most recognizable names in Canadian breeding, Nash served as the general manager at Glengate Farms for almost 30 years. He has has since attended over 2,500 foalings and witnessed and participated in the evolution of artificial insemination, the freezing of semen and embryo transplants. He is also a noted lecturer in Equine Reproduction at Equine Guelph and Regional Equine & Agriculture Centre of Huron (REACH Huron).

Please join SC in wishing Doug Nash a full recovery.
