Jillian Jiggs came to Flamboro Downs on Saturday, April 13 and picked up where she left off after a successful March in London, where she had won four straight at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Despite starting from post five in the evening's first race and being parked around the first turn, Jillian Jiggs glided to the lead on the approach to the first quarter, pacing to fractions of :28.1, :57.4 and 1:26.4, then finishing a length and a half ahead of 43-1 shot All She Can (Ryan Desroche) for the 1:57.3 score. Dangerous Curves (Jason Ryan) was third.
Trainer Jodie Cullen and driver Travis Cullen co-owns the daughter of All Bets Off out of the Usher Hanover mare Millbanks Ariel with Ronald Cullen. The win was the fifth in nine starts in 2024 and the eighth lifetime victory for Jillian Jiggs, who has now earned $23,300 in 2024 and $42,400 since starting her career last year.
The victory for Arrakis in race four was the 50th lifetime win for the 12-year-old brown trotting gelding.
Travis Henry guided the son of Federal Flex out of the Worthy Bowl mare Kawartha An Worthy to the lead from post six, clearing to the lead before arriving at the opening quarter in :29.2 and leading through a half of 1:00.4. Arrakis led to three-quarters in 1:29.2 and drew off to win by 2-1/2 lengths in 1:59.2, defeating Magics Lucky Charm (J Harris) and Electro Long Legs (Natasha Day), who had been second and third, respectively, at each point of call.
Trainer Francis Guillemette co-owns Arrakis with Robert Bernicky. Of the 50 lifetime wins, two have come this season, along with 2024 earnings of $23,233. The classy veteran has banked a lifetime haul of $650,833.
Jillian Jiggs and Arrakis each paid $2.40 to win, and were among seven winning favourites on the 10-race card.
