There will be live racing after all at Hippodrome de Quebec this year, starting this month, the Quebec Jockey Club has confirmed

.

In a statement on its website, general manager Vincent Trudel said the QJC will present 10 live cards on Saturdays and Sundays for five consecutive weeks, starting March 31 and running through the end of April.

Qualifiers will be held the weekend prior to the first program.

The jockey club's plan had been to present its live cards in the summer and early fall, but the Quebec City arena project forced a scheduling change. Organizers were looking at possible alternative sites but, in the end, elected to retain the Quebec City option.

In addition to regular overnights, the spring meet will include series for Quebec-breds 4 and 5 years old.

Trudel said there will be 10 additional live dates of harness racing presented this summer, but the location won't be revealed until the end of the month.

I am very deceived but not surprised that they hunt all from the Hippodrome of Quebec, Regis Labeaume is not very good as mayor because if he would be a good mayor he wouldn't have only one project: AMPHITHEATER. And what is more surprising is that the Quebec's people like him as mayor...I am a Québécois and I dont' agree with this mayor who has no respect for more other people than him, this includes fireman or other personnel from Ville of Québec and when journalists asked him If it was sure that the cost of Amphitheater will cost only 400 milllions, he answered he is not ready to answer to this.

Reglis Labeaume is like the Joker in Batman...I hope the Quebec's people will open their
eyes on next municipal Elections and they will give him the same he gave to the hippodrome of Québec and all personns working there and we must not forget the Hippodrome of Quebec was at Quebec city more than 100 years, and Quebec is supposed to be a patrimonial city which is obliged to respect old building and activities..

I am very deceived that the new owner and orgnisation from Horseracers didn't sue the City of Quebec and his mayor for all damages Reglis Labeaume cause them.

Hoping that Quebec's people will put Reglis Labeaume out of Hotel de Ville de Quebec in 2013 as he is doing for the personnel and all personns working and who like this activity of Horseracer.

This is good news, Quebec City is a great harness racing city, and there are so many top horsemen across North America who come from Quebec. It does seem a great shame that the racetrack in Trois Rivieres is just wasting away. I think it would be great for harness racing in Quebec if there could be a spring racing meet in Quebec City and a summer or fall racing meet in Trois Rivieres. It is a real shame what has happened to the industry in Quebec, but I am still optimistic that things can get better.
