Dave Palone. Heinz Wewering. Herve Filion. With three wins, Tony Morgan will join their rare company.
On Tuesday night at Dover Downs, Morgan won two races to move within three of the 15,000 lifetime win plateau. He'll have a number of chances to hit that mark on Wednesday's Dover card.
The stakes action on the Tuesday card was highlighted by two $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Three-Year-Old colt/gelding trot preliminaries. Political Foe, a six-figure winner, and Go Byem, a maiden, each scored 1:57.4 victories.
Trainer-driver Eddie Dennis bided his time racing second with Politicial Foe before moving quickly to take the lead on the final turn on the way to a 1:57.4 triumph in the 1st of two non-wagering $20,000 DSBF prelims. Save The Night (George Dennis), cut out the early fractions and held on for second. Audie Mo (Vic Kirby) was a strong third. Political Foe is an altered son of Political Briefing-Paris Filly who registered his fifth lifetime win in 10 starts with four seconds, winning $122,625.
Go Byem, an Impel Hanover-Go Sassy Go gelding, made his first start a winning one, as trainer-driver Les Givens negotiated a 1:57.4 decision in the second $20,000 DSBF 1st leg prelim. Delbert Cain and Nanticoke Racing own the winner who only had two qualifiers earlier this month. Egosanattitudes (Jonathan Roberts) was runner-up, while Political Cash (Allan Davis) took third.
