In view of industry feedback and technical challenges associated with introducing its new licensing form, the Ontario Racing Commission has announced that it has deferred implementation of its pilot programs for multi-breed licences and multi-year licences effective immediately.

ORC Defers Implementation Of Pilot Programs For Multi-Breed And Multi-Year Licences
In view of industry feedback and technical challenges associated with introducing the new licensing form, the Ontario Racing Commission (ORC) has deferred implementation of the pilot programs for multi-breed licences and multi-year licences effective immediately. The new individual licence application form will no longer be used. A review of industry feedback and resolution of associated technical issues will be conducted before further implementation of the pilots and any new licensing forms.
Any licence issued to date under the pilots will be honoured.
The multi-year option was piloted following a series of requests from the racing community to reinstate a 3 year licence. The multi-breed licence was intended to ease the licensing burden on individuals who operate across all breeds. Both pilot programs will be re-examined and additional input sought from industry.
The ORC continues to work hard to develop new and improved processes, intended to increase ORC’s efficiencies, ensure strong regulation and make improvements for participants.
