World Record Holder Off The Schneid

Just A Jolt won the $26,000 Delaware Special/Handicap for the first time this meet on Thursday, March 12 at Dover Downs.

After being favoured in the week’s top pace two of the last five starts, Just A Jolt, a 5-2 favourite again, paid off with an impressive 1:51.1 victory beating a field of nine in the feature race.

Vic Kirby blasted Just A Jolt (Village Jolt-Just Wait Kate) away from post 6 to get the lead and the final result was never in doubt sealed by a :27.1 final panel. It was the five-year-old gelding's first win of the season to go with three seconds for trainer Jim King and owner Janet Hudson. Full Of Sand with Jonathan Roberts was second. Mustang Art (Art Stafford Jr.) took third.

The ‘Pacer of the Season’ at Harrington Raceway last year, Just A Jolt won for the 21st time in his career bringing his lifetime earnings to $317,607. He set the world record for four-year-old pacing geldings at the half-miler twice in 2014, with 1:50 miles on June 30 and July 24.

In the race after Just A Jolt's, Adventure Bound went even faster. The seven-year-old Camluck-Unchained Speed gelding, overlooked at 6-1, cut out all the fractions in a 1:50.3 mile for owners Art Stafford Jr., Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta and trainer Eric Ell. The win was Adventure Bound’s second of year, to go with three seconds and a third in eight starts, earning $27,335 this year and $452,174 lifetime after 26 wins. People Are Crazy (Kirby) dashed down the passing lane for second money with Nova Artist (Allan Davis) third.

Tim Tetrick and Allan Davis won three races each. Eddie Davis Jr. had a double while trainer Dylan Davis haltered four winners and won two as an owner and Tom Lazzaro also won two as an owner. Davis moved back into first place in the trainer standings with his four wins.
