The condition of driver Robert Shepherd, who was involved in last Monday's accident at Woodbine
Racetrack, has improved significantly since the later part of last week.
Trot Insider has learned that the 28-year-old Cambridge, Ont. resident had surgery on his broken leg over the weekend.
"His surgery went well. He doesn't have a cast on - he only has crutches," Shepherd's brother Patrick told Trot Insider. "He's still in the hospital but he is getting out in the next few days.
"The doctors are still watching the bone marrow issue and making sure it doesn't come back."
Shepherd indicated that initial reports have Robert on the shelf for just six weeks.
