According to a report, the New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association has until February 29 to complete a deal with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority which would see the organization lease Monmouth Park in 2013

. The deal would also see the Meadowlands Racetrack become the site of six dual-card race dates where live standardbred and thoroughbred racing is held on the same day.

The Daily Racing Form has reported that the six Meadowlands cards would take place during the spring of 2013.

The lease deal stipulates that 51 dates of live racing would be guaranteed at Monmouth, with each day offering purses of $400,000. The article also states that another 14 dates of live thoroughbred racing could be run at either Monmouth or the Meadowlands in the fall, but for lower purses.

The DRF article concludes by stating that the NJTHA is going to this year explore whether the implementation of exchange wagering or 'instant racing' machines could be feasible to help raise revenue.
