All focus this week has understandably fallen on the Drummond Report and its recommendations in regard to the Ontario horse-racing industry, but lost in the shuffle has been a major personal accomplishment for O'Brien Award winner Rick Zeron
.
On Thursday, February 16, Zeron was inducted into the Oakville Sports Hall of Fame along with soccer's Kara Lang and former professional football players Michael 'Pinball' Clemons and Mike Vanderjagt.
“I never imagined in my wildest dreams I’d be in the Oakville Sports Hall of Fame,” Zeron, 55, told Jon Kuiperij of the Oakville Beaver.
Zeron also explained that it is one thing to be recognized within your own industry, but when you are recognized outside of your industry it "is unbelievable."
