After falling just short of pacesetter Little Expensive in last Sunday's Winners Over Trot at Harrah's Philadelphia, the Uncle Peter-Trot To The Macs gelding My Man Peter went first-over with Little Expensive on his back and came up with the power to turn in a 1:53.2 victory in the $22,222 renewal of that class on Sunday, Dec. 7.
George Napolitano Jr. sent the favoured My Man Peter up uncovered from fifth to pressure leader Resolve To Win (Tim Tetrick), who made the lead after a :27.3 quarter and got a slight breather to a :56.4 half. But My Man Peter was relentless in his pursuit, reaching the lead not much after a 1:25.2 three-quarters, and he finished out the mile strongly with a last half in :55.3 to defeat Little Expensive (Tyler Miller) by 2-1/4 lengths. Resolve To Win finished third.
My Man Peter is now a winner of four of his last six starts for trainer Per Engblom and owner Morrison Racing Stables. The five-year-old is 14-for-69 lifetime. He paid $4.60 to win.
Earlier on the card, Jacks Shadow N ($6) notched his third straight victory, and with it his 50th career win. The 11-year-old son of Shadow Play-Lets Go Cullen was fourth to the quarter in :28, grabbed the lead before the half in :56.4, then battled with Semi Tough (Corey Callahan) past three-quarters in 1:24.4 before putting him away and marching to a 1:53.3 victory by a half-length over Spirit Of Stlouis N (Jack Pelling), with Captain Up (Mark Herschberger) third. Tetrick piloted the gelding for trainer Scott Di Domenico and owners Triple D Stables, Oompa's Farm, and Robert Mondillo. Jacks Shadow N reached the 50-win milestone in 191 starts. The gelding has raced for his current connections since migrating from New Zealand in 2019.
The best purse for pacers offered on the week-ending card was $18,750, for up-and-coming younger colts and geldings. It was won by the Papi Rob Hanover-Stunning Lady sophomore gelding War No More, who stepped up in class and took a new lifetime mark of 1:53 while making it two scores in a row. War No More pushed pacesetter Shining Moment (Herschberger) most of a :26.4 quarter, then sat the golden journey as favored Rjs Red Devil (Tetrick) came first-over near the :56 half and bedeviled the leader through the 1:24.2 three-quarters. As that pair tired after their efforts, Anthony Napolitano got War No More out of the pocket into the stretch, and just in time, as Bettor Safe (George Napolitano Jr.) was surging late, but War No More crossed the wire a half-length ahead. Shining Moment was third.
Deborah Daguet trains the winner, who is now four-for-34 lifetime, for Todd’s Auto. The gelding returned $8.20.
Fast-class pacers staged quite a battle in an $18,056 conditioned contest. Favoured Belmont Royale N (Herschberger) was parked to a :27.1 quarter to get around Mad Max Hanover (Ridge Warren) while I Did It Myway, sitting third, thought about quarter-moving but stayed put. He then advanced to the pocket as Mad Max Hanover pulled from the two-hole and challenged to a :56 half and a 1:24 three-quarters. In the stretch, it came down to the pacesetter and pocket-sitter, and I Did It Myway, a son of Captaintreacherous-Flyme To The Moon, had the most pace along the inside, catching the leader by a quarter-length in 1:52.1. Soho Spectre A (Tetrick) completed the top three.
Anthony Napolitano got the winning steer behind the millionaire, who is now 37 for 107, for trainer Travis Alexander and the ownership of David Hamm, EVM Racing LLC, and Glenn Phillips. The win payout was $9.20.
Trainer Enrico Robinson tripled on the 15-race card, doubling his yearly total. He won with three newcomers to his barn: Lochlan Hanover ($2.10), Mullinax ($9.20), and Captain Crusader A ($2.10), all owned by Pollack Racing LLC. Robinson now has 68 career training wins in 474 starts.
The track’s two winningest drivers in 2025, Tetrick and George Napolitano Jr., both won three or more races on each of the three cards this week. They shared Thursday’s and Sunday’s sulky honours, but Tetrick had five on Friday to take the week’s crown.
Racing resumes at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Thursday at 12:25 p.m. The usual fall schedule of Thursday and Friday at 12:25 p.m. and Sunday at 12:40 p.m. will hold this week, and then the live pattern will alter for the holidays in the last two weeks of the 2025 season.
