KY Bill: Ask Residents For Expanded Gaming

It has been reported that a bill was pre-filed in Kentucky on Friday, December 16 which would ask local voter approval for racetracks to expand to racinos

The Lexington Herald-Leader has reported that the bill was filed by Representative Dennis Keene.

The article has also quoted Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear as saying Friday that he will be polling state residents in regard to their feelings on the possible implementation of expanded gaming. The course of action would be similar to what is currently going on in New Jersey.

"We are developing our plans for the gaming amendment and look forward to working with legislators so the people of Kentucky will finally have the chance to vote on this issue," Beshear was quoted as saying.

If expanded gaming were to become a reality in the state of Kentucky, the article explains that the Red Mile, along with multiple thoroughbred raceways.
