According to a report, recently re-elected Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear is consulting with state lawmakers to determine what the best route is to get expanded gaming moving forward during the 2012 General Assembly. He has also been cited as saying that he is looking to have racetracks receive benefits of the expansion, at least in some form.

An article on courier-journal.com has cited the governor as saying that a constitutional amendment via referendum might be the best route to take in getting gaming expansion finalized in the state.

The report has also cited Gov. Beshear as saying that he will support any approach which will get expanded gaming passed. He was also cited as saying that he is even open to proposals which do not include expanded gaming at horse racetracks themselves as long as the tracks are still 'in the mix.'
