Kentucky Stakes Program Approved For 2024

The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission has approved the recommendations of the Kentucky Sire Stakes Advisory Panel to further expand the Kentucky Sire Stakes (KYSS) and Breed Development Program.

In addition to expanding the existing program with more than $3 million in purse enhancements (including new and expanded series at Oak Grove, The Red Mile and Cumberland Run), the Stallion Bonus Program was expanded to now apply to all Kentucky Sire Stakes and Kentucky Proud races beginning in 2024.

Highlights include:

Oak Grove

  • Two-Year-Old & Three-Year-Old Early Sire Stakes (two legs, final & consolation)
    • Legs: $40,000 guaranteed
    • Final: $100,000
    • Consolation: $25,000
  • Four-Year-Old Series 1 (two legs & final)
    • Legs: $50,000 guaranteed
    • Final: $100,000
  • Four-Year-Old Series 2 (three legs & final)
    • o Legs: $50,000 guaranteed
    • o Final: $150,000

The Red Mile

  • Two-Year-Old & Three-Year-Old KYSS Championship Series (four legs & final)
    • Legs: $80,000
    • Final: $400,000
  • Two-Year-Old & Three-Year-Old KYSS Commonwealth Series (four legs & final)
    • Legs: $30,000
    • Final: $100,000
  • Two-Year-Old & Three-Year-Old KYSS Golden Rod Series (four legs & final)
    • Legs: $15,000
    • Final: $50,000
  • Wildcat Series (new)
    • Five $10,000 guaranteed legs with conditioned races for two-year-olds & three-year-olds
  • Four-Year-Old Red Mile Series (new)
    • Three $35,000 guaranteed legs

Cumberland Run

  • Two-Year-Old & Three-Year-Old Late Sire Stakes (two legs & final)
    • Legs: $40,000 guaranteed
    • Final: $100,000
  • Four-Year-Old Series (enhanced)
    • Three $50,000 guaranteed legs
